We've been invited a few times to the super-secret, (non-Heights-kids-sanctioned) Friday, 3-5pm mommy/baby happy hour playgroup. Every time we've been invited it's been held at the home of the mom that we like the least (the one from the other post). We've respectfully declined each time. Well, for the next couple of weeks, I happen to know that said mom is on vacation, far, far away. This week, another mom invited us to this happy hour. We enthusiastically inclined (?) due to the fact that obnoxious mommy is 1,500 miles away.
Since I'm not normally comfortable in social situations, I had a little trouble working up the nerve to go, but I knew that this was a good opportunity, since obnoxious mommy wouldn't be there to ruin my good time. We put on our big girl panties and went and had a damn good time. The moms that were there were decidedly more prissy than what I usually choose to hang out with of my own free will, but they were really pretty fun. I even used the word condom in a joking manner and got a good laugh, so that's a good sign. A rather good time was had by all and I feel like if I can remain friendly with these moms, I might--just might--win the battle of obnoxious mommy and find myself having a good, social time.
